No time for yourself?

No time for yourselfYou don’t have time to do what? Live? That’s basically what you’re saying when you don’t make time for yourself. So you may be juggling a job, kids, relationship, and another job! So what? Think about it. How “free” are you in this country if you can’t make time for yourself? Time for yourself doesn’t mean 10 hours out of the day. (Although that would be nice) Time for yourself can be as simple as taking a minute to breathe!

Breathing is the ultimate stress reliever! Angry people, expecting mothers about to deliver, trauma victims, anxious people, and even people in yoga class are all told to do the same thing to calm their thoughts and relax—breathe! Get this; even people who drink alcohol or watch TV are basically slowing down their own thought processes to relax. The good thing about conscious breathing is that it centers you, and allows you to draw from a deeper intelligence, not from the stampede of thoughts that run through your head daily. You can even do it now, while reading, talking, or even working! That’s right! Pay attention to your next breath and take a deep breath in and out. Imagine the oxygen going throughout your body and supplying fuel to your hands and feet. (Just control your facial expressions—you don’t want people to think they’re turning you on!) That only takes a few seconds. Just imagine doing that throughout the day: during lunch, crisis, at work, etc. Even smokers know the value of deep breathing! I believe they are FIRST addicted to relaxing, not the nicotine! The better you get at it; the less obvious it will look like someone is getting on your nerves! You’ll find yourself making better choices, having a better work out, and most of all, less stress! Try to get twelve breaths a minute or slower. NOW BREATHE!
